Bonne Noel et Bonne Annee
The end of our 2 nd year at Les Terrasses de Gaumier and what a year!!! Married with child on the way, one gite done and ready to be rented out this year, pool done and we have finally gut stuck into the house.
This month is a short month as we drove back to the UK for Christmas, nevertheless Dan managed to squeeze plenty in!
La Maison
Le sol de la Salon (sitting room floor)
Having removed the entire floor including the beams:
you could see straight into the cellar (la cave):

Putting it all back together looked to me like a marathon task but Dan was not deterred. I had organized the delivery of some concrete beams and plastic jobbies with which Dan was going to fabricate a whole new floor:

Seemed a bit tricky to me but the next time I checked progress, the floor looked like this:

Pretty impressive! Dan then prepared the floor to take the final concrete covering and then concreted:

Looking a bit more like a sitting room again!
Le sol de la repas (dining room floor)
Dan finished taking up the old wooden floor, dug it out, then prepared it for a concrete slab by putting in a damp proof membrane and the electrics:

Le sol de la chambre d'hote (B &B room floor)
Again Dan dug out the floor in preparation for the plumbing, electrics, insulation and all, to be inserted before laying the floor:
Entre la maison et la grange
We dug deeper trenches for the pipes and of course, whenever we dig holes, it rains and rains and rains….
I can imagine you are all thinking, so if Dan has achieved all that, what exactly have you been doing??
With all that digging, I'm exhausted but of course, I have been managing our social life!!! A full time job really – unfortunately for Dan though, on top of his heavy labouring, he has had to go out or host dinner parties too!
But that's Christmas for you – hope you all had a fab one and ate and drank far too much!
We'll return with further updates in the New Year so stay tuned.
Happy Christmas
Lots of love and Christmas cheer
The three Pilotts!
